When to Change a Diaper

In the first couple of months, you may find yourself changing diapers up to 10 times in 24 hours. Diapers should be changed whenever they are wet or soiled. Your baby will often (but not always) let you know. With a super-absorbent diaper like Pampers diapers, you can tell if it’s wet by urine indicator or by feeling for lumps in the absorbent material.

Here are some common times for changing diapers:

  • Right before or right after every feeding
  • After every bowel movement
  • Before bedtime
  • When your baby wakes up
  • When you go out with your baby
The Art of Changing Diapers

Pampers Diapers are designed to adjust to your baby’s shape for a snug, comfortable fit. While changing diapers there’s no need to fold the waistband in or out or to adjust the leg cuffs.

  • Place tabs parallel to the waistband and centered on the character strip.
  • Use the characters as guides to ensure the fasteners are evenly spaced.
  • Keep baby products such as powder away from the fasteners so they maintain their stickiness.
Wiping baby bottoms

Have a supply of baby wipes or clean wet tissues handy while changing diapers to help keep your baby clean and fresh.

For baby girls, while changing diapers always wipe from front to back to minimize the amount of stool material that gets near her genitals. Also, be careful to clean all areas, as the folds in the skin around her genitals can hide urine and soil.

Treating and preventing diaper rash

Red bumps on your baby’s bottom may mean diaper rash. It can be caused by many factors, including leaving urine or bowel movement on the skin too long between changing diapers or even as a result of taking antibiotics. And when your baby starts solid foods, wait a few days between introducing each new food to see if the rash was caused by a particular food.

If your baby has diaper rash, clean the entire diapered area gently but thoroughly with a baby wipe or a clean wet tissue. It is also helpful to allow air to reach the skin. Talk to your paediatrician or pharmacist if the rash does not improve.

Finding the right size

Just like you, babies like to wear things that fit just right. Choose a size that does not sag or gap, even as your baby crawls and plays. This will help prevent leaks. Each product description on this site gives guidelines that represent the average weight for a particular size. And remember, when you move up a size, you gain absorbency.

Weighing babies

The easiest way to weigh your baby is to first hop on the scale yourself. See how much you weigh, then see how much you weigh when you hold your baby. If you subtract your weight, you’ll know how much your baby weighs.

Safe diapering

You buy the latest toys and babies wind up playing with silly things – like diapers. It’s important to keep diapers where they should be, on your baby’s bottom. Don’t let your baby put the diaper in her mouth. Discard any diaper that has become torn or unsealed, and read the warning label on all bags.

Diaper gel facts

AGM is the absorbent gelling material widely used in diaper padding to absorb wetness. It is perfectly normal to see some gel on the skin from time to time, especially if the diaper is heavily saturated. It can easily be removed by wiping your baby’s skin.

This material has a long history of safe use in a variety of products and has been in diapers for more than a decade. Absorbent gelling material is closely related to ingredients widely used in cosmetics, in food processing and as binders in medicine capsules.

Waste removal
As the Pampers bag recommends, you’ll want to dump bowel movements in the toilet. Then just roll the diaper into its backsheet, using the tape or fasteners to keep it closed, and dispose of it in the trash.

Diaper storage
Store your diapers in an area protected from extreme heat and humidity and away from products with fragrances. We recommend the diaper be kept in a dry storage area where the temperature is 85 degrees or less.

Its very poor quality. Looks like fake pampers. Not happy with this purchase. Amazon should stop selling this product. Really disappointed with the purchase.

This product of Pampers is so bad that even my baby does not like it. It fells like i am using plastic. Earlier i was using pampers swaddlers which are far much better than these. I use one diaper for full night and it is so uncomfortable to my baby that i need to change it in midnight. Also whenever my baby pass the stool all the clothes get wet.

Till date I have bought 5 packets of ‘pampers baby dry newborn upto 8 kg 46n’ diapers from amazon. After reading all the negative reviews lately I decided to check it for myself. Also because my little one has been getting rashes more frequently. So I went ahead and bought the very same packet from the medical store. I was left very disappointed when I realised that the pampers from amazon were indeed duplicate. The differences were to many to ignore1) the shape – the shape of the diapers from amazon as compared to the store were very different ( pic attached) . Also the texture and the feel of the materials used is also different. The store bought one had a very smooth n soft feel to it whereas the amazon one was slightly rough.2) the smell – the store bought diaper had a very pleasant and flowery smell where as the amazon one has a more chemical like smell.3) the code – each pampers diaper has a code printed on their diaper. The code on the store bought diaper was 14 digits long and was very visible (pic attached) where as although there was a code it was incomplete and missing digits.UPDATE – the incompetent code that I found on the amazon diapers are only on the top few….the remaining diapers did not have any code at all…I have gone through another packet of the amazon bought diapers. Still have one more in stock. Would not want another child to be affected by giving it away so gotta make use of what I have. Thankfully my lo is not getting a full blown breakout just some redishness but I control that with a doc prescribed cream.NOTE: she didn’t have any redishness with the diapers bought from the medical store…4) the price – the price on the medical bought packet was a printed as a part of the packets design (pic attached) where as the amazon one had no information as seen in the medical one and also the price was digitally printed or stamped on later.5) graphics on the pack – the graphics on the packs are not consistent both have different types of graphics on the sides of the pack.Althoug the amazon bought diaper has worked well for till date there have been a few instances of spillages and I normally change diapers every 3-4 hrs as a thumb rule. But the above difference that I notice are too grave to be ignored. Needless to say I will not be purchasing diapers from amazon. The discounted price is just a way to pull customer to purchase such fake products. I will be buying my pampers from the medical store at full cost as the health n well being of my little one is more important to me … had I known this earlier I would have instantly stopped buying from amazon anyways it’s better late than never.I cannot name the sel*er ( very well known on amazon) as it’s against the amazon policy to warn customers of those who are cheating them nor am I sure if this review will be published. Nevertheless I thought that this needs to be reviewed honestly.
